About Dr. Janet Chollet
Dr. Janet A. Chollet is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, biotechnology co-founder, and translational drug-development physician based in Boston. She is Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Procyrn LLC, where she leads clinical and translational strategy for therapeutics addressing major unmet needs in women’s health.
With more than three decades of clinical and academic experience, Dr. Chollet has practiced at institutions including Magee-Womens Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Her career has combined direct patient care, clinical teaching, women’s-health drug development, and the translation of clinical problems into therapeutic programs. She holds three U.S. patents in women’s-health drug delivery and has worked across preclinical and early-stage clinical development.
Dr. Chollet earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1986 and her Doctor of Medicine degree from New York Medical College. She completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at LAC/USC Women’s Hospital from 1991 to 1995.
Following residency, Dr. Chollet joined Magee-Womens Hospital, affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh, as a staff physician and instructor. From 2000 to 2007, she combined direct patient care with clinical teaching and mentoring. Her subsequent clinical work in Boston has included Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where she continued her work in obstetrics and gynecology while expanding her focus on translational medicine and therapeutic development.
In 2005, Dr. Chollet co-founded Pear Tree Pharmaceuticals, a women’s-health company focused on site-targeted therapies. As Vice President of Clinical Affairs through 2018, she worked on local drug-delivery approaches intended to reduce systemic exposure while addressing women’s-health conditions, including therapies relevant to breast cancer survivors and women with vulvovaginal atrophy. This experience helped establish the foundation for her later work in locally delivered and women’s-health therapeutics.
Dr. Chollet later co-founded Procyrn LLC, where she serves as Chief Medical Officer. Procyrn’s lead program, PC101, is being developed as a sustained-release interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) therapy for preterm preeclampsia. In 2026, PC101 received funding through the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center Women’s Health Initiative to advance formulation development and preclinical pharmacokinetic studies. The program is designed to provide sustained therapeutic exposure while preserving the ability to discontinue treatment when clinically appropriate.
Procyrn’s second program is focused on a local, tissue-preserving therapeutic approach for women with persistent, residual, or recurrent high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL/CIN2/3) following cervical excisional treatment. The program is evaluating small-molecule candidates and local cervical delivery strategies with the long-term goal of reducing the need for repeat excisional procedures and the additional loss of cervical tissue associated with them.
Across her clinical and biotechnology work, Dr. Chollet’s focus has remained on women’s-health conditions in which clinical experience reveals a need for better therapeutic options. Her current work brings together decades of obstetric and gynecologic practice with drug-development strategy, local and sustained drug delivery, preclinical development, and clinical translation.
